“Yo`!” Exclaimed the blond, his shoulders perking up almost immediately at the greeting. Thank chicken dumplings that someone was nice enough to greet him first! Everyone around this city seemed a bit up tight or at least busy doing whatever city folk do. Ventus has never been around Republic City. It is a new, foreign location to him but he was traveling through on a business trip and decided to stop in for a little while. Mainly to rest but honestly, he followed his nose and tried to mark the scrumptious smells of exotic foods. The blond-haired spike ran up to the hefty individual and sighed out of relief. “Hi!” Ventus began, “I’m new around here! U-Um… my name’s Ventus! What’s your name, guy?”
The people around Republic City dress in a lot of ways, but Ventus’ own clothes are much different than anyone else’s. Still, this isn’t the only reason people are looking at him so oddly. It’s not often someone here sees another with hair a color like his. Unlike the others, Bolin’s getting used to seeing people around that look different. There have been a lot of them around recently, and he’s gotten the chance to talk to a lot of them. The majority of them seem friendly, so he treats them the same as he would anyone else.

“Bolin. Nice to meet you, Ventus.” He holds his hand out towards the other. “If you need help finding anything around here, I’m happy to help, so just say the word.”

“Hello there! My name is Odette, and you?”

“Bolin! It’s nice to meet you, Odette.”

And cue the practical STARING CONTEST with this thing. Jesus fuck. You’re honestly not paying that much attention to Bolin, but when he scratches the top of the animal’s head and starts talking about some kind of arena.
WHAT THE HELL IS PROBENDING, ANYWAY, I MEAN WHAT, IS THAT SOME TYPE OF SHITTY HUMAN SPORT? YOU HAD SOME STUPID FERRET GO OUT AND PREFORM TRICKS BEFORE SPORTS MATCHES?
You’re not sure what anyone else thinks about that, but to you it just sounds really fucking stupid.
[Bolin acts as though he’s been wounded deeply, then says to the animal in a voice that would make anyone think he was talking to a baby, “Don’t listen to him, Pabu. You’re the smartest fire ferret around.” His attention goes back to Karkat after this.]
Mascots do that kind of thing before matches. It’s better than what the Wolfbats do. Or used to do, I guess. Anyway, yes! Probending is a popular sport in my world. Two teams try to get as much territory in the ring as possible in a certain amount of time, or knock the other team off of the ring. Each team has three people in it: A firebender, an earthbender, and a waterbender.
Sora nods as she listens to the other boy speak, obviously interested in what he was saying. “Dangerous?” She blinked, cocking her eyebrows then in a form that would prove to be a worried expression. “What happened?” If this wasn’t a safe place to be, then she would try and help to make it safe, to the best of her ability. If she couldn’t do that, then she’d just lend a hand here and there.
“Oh, you know, Amon lead the equalists into a war against the benders.” He says this as though it’s no big deal at first, mostly joking around, but when he talks again, he’s much more serious. “Just be careful walking around on your own. A lot of people are getting dragged into it that don’t need to be.”

Are the oddly dressed people coming in groups again now? How strange. Not because there’s so many, but because Bolin seems to be the only one who really notices them. Others just look for a moment and turn their heads. It obviously doesn’t matter that much to the bender though, because he doesn’t hesitate to wave and smile towards the foreign people.
“Hey there!”
“That’s cool, glad you’re still the loving guy I remember you as.” Hakota responded. “Maybe we should hangout or have lunch sometime, you should bring your friends as well, I would love to meet Korr-” He stopped for some reason, but he didn’t know why. “Well if you ever need me or just want to hang out, just come by! I’m always open to plans.” He said while shaking Bolin’s hand. “I have someplace I have to be, man time flies when you are reminscing. Anyways see you next time Bolin!”
“Yeah, we should! Mako will be happy to see you again. And I’m sure you and Korra could be good friends too.” He smiles at the handshake, though he’s a little upset that the reunion is being cut so short, and says his own good byes. “Guess it does. Talk to you later, Hakota!”

“I’m not. I actually have no idea where I am.” At least he’s nice. She probably could’ve run into a lot less friendly people if she had ended up here. Taking a moment to look around once more, she looks back at him. Even though she’s more lost than a stray pup, she’s still smiling and bubbly as ever.
She almost didn’t catch his introduction, she had zoned out so much. “Thank you! I would really appreciate that! I’m Sora, it’s nice to meet you, Bolin.” She accepts the handshake, then rubs the back of her head with something of a sheepish grin.
“Republic City, the capitol of the United Republic of Nations! It’s pretty dangerous around here right now, but it’s still a nice place.” He hopes this is enough of a warning for her to know to be careful. It’s risky to walk around on your own for benders and non-benders alike, so anyone who takes that risk had better be on their toes.
His smiles stays as he shakes her hand then draws back his own. “Nice to meet you too, Sora.” He notices that sheepish grin of hers and wonders for a moment if she’s nervous. No, confused more than likely. He would be too if he ended up in some new place.

“Yea, I always give it my all every encounter.” He responded. “But….” He paused “As always I’m stuck watching my own back.” Hakota started to remember the instances in which he was alone facing a group of equalists, he quickly changed the topic “So what brings you to this part of town?”
Bolin wants to say something, tell Hakota that he should stick around with someone else, but not only is he walking around on his own himself, but the topic is changed before he gets the chance. “I’m just checking up on friends and places I used to hang out at all the time. Making sure everything’s okay, y’know?”

How she had ended up here was beyond her, but that didn’t really matter. The redhead had been wandering with something of a lost expression, until she heard someone calling towards her. The knight turned and beamed right back at the male, waving in return and approaching him.
“Hello!”
Bolin catches that expression, which comes as no surprise to him. Most of the people with strange clothes act lost around here, because they’re usually from somewhere very unlike Republic City. This gives him something to start off the conversation with.
“You’re not from around here, are you?” He holds out his hand after asking this. “My name’s Bolin. I’ve lived here for a long time, so if you need help finding some place, I’m happy to help.”
